Editorial Policy & Corrections
What we will and won't publish, how we label it, and how to get something corrected.
We show our sources
Every published observation has to state where it came from and when it was seen. If we can't say that, we don't publish it.
Advertising never buys standing
Paid placements are labelled and have no effect on ratings, scores, price comparisons or organic recommendations.
We correct quickly and openly
When something is wrong, we fix it and keep a history of the change rather than quietly deleting it.
We don't overclaim
A community report is a community report. We never describe one as independently verified.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions — what we publish, how we label it, and what we decline — are made independently of any commercial relationship.
Venues and advertisers have no input into ratings, price observations or search ranking. Sponsored venues are treated exactly like any other venue in every calculation.
How observations are handled
Observations must describe a firsthand experience. We do not publish prices written on behalf of a venue, or prices nobody actually saw.
We record the item, the serving size where known, the price, whether it was regular or promotional, and the date. Where a special is involved, we only present it as available when its days and times are known.
We distinguish a menu price from a receipt total, because tax and tip mean they are different numbers.
What our labels mean
Reported — a person says they saw or paid this price. Unchecked against other evidence.
Source-backed — the report includes a photo of a menu, receipt or price board. This supports the report; it does not prove the price is current today.
Approved — a moderator reviewed it against our guidelines. Reviewed is not audited.
Outdated — enough time has passed without reconfirmation that we present it as history rather than a current price.
Corrections
Anyone can report an error, and venue owners can request corrections directly — free of charge and without needing a paid listing.
Corrections are reviewed like any observation: we verify where we can, and flag rather than guess where we can't.
We retain an audit history of corrections so a record's changes can be traced.
Reviews and ratings
Reviews must be firsthand and about the venue's offering.
We do not remove honest criticism. We do remove reviews that are abusive, contain personal information, or are clearly written to manipulate a score.
A rating is never shown without the number of reviews behind it. Where there are no approved reviews, we show no rating.
Advertising and sponsorship
Every paid placement is clearly labelled as sponsored or promoted.
We publish an explicit advertising disclosure and never sell exposure through third-party communities we don't control.
Current status of our data
Our verified venue and price database is still being prepared. That means this website does not currently publish real venue prices, ratings or reviews.
Any example shown on this site is clearly marked as illustrative and fictional. None of it is a real venue, price, rating or review.
Request a correction
If something here is wrong, tell us. Venue owners and members of the public use the same route — it's free and goes to a person.
