Submission & editorial guidelines

These are the rules we hold ourselves to when we publish a price or a rating. They apply to every submission, including our own.

What we publish

We publish firsthand observations of prices, and community ratings across food, drinks, service, atmosphere and value.

Every observation records what was ordered, the price, the serving size or pour where known, the date it was seen, and what kind of evidence supports it.

What the labels mean

Reported — someone says they saw or paid this price. It has not been checked against anything else.

Source-backed — the report includes a photo of a menu, receipt or price board. The photo supports the report; it does not prove the price is current today.

Approved — a moderator has reviewed the submission against these guidelines. Approved means reviewed, not independently audited or venue-confirmed.

Outdated — enough time has passed without reconfirmation that we flag the observation as history rather than a current price.

None of these labels means a price is guaranteed. Always check the menu before you order.

What makes a good submission

Bars: the exact beer or drink name, the serving size (12 oz, 16 oz, pint) and whether it was regular or special.

Food: the item as it appears on the menu, and whether it was an appetizer, entrée or a special.

Specials: the day and time the special applied. A price you got on Tuesday may not exist on Saturday, so timing matters.

Receipts: crop or cover anything personal — card numbers, names and totals you don't want public. We never publish unredacted receipts.

Reviews and ratings

Reviews must be firsthand. We don't accept reviews written on behalf of a venue, or written without visiting.

We don't remove honest negative reviews. We do reject reviews that are abusive, contain personal information, or are not about the venue's offering.

Ratings belong to the community. Venues cannot buy, edit or remove them.

Review and moderation

Every submission enters a private moderation queue. Nothing appears publicly until it has been reviewed.

We may edit for clarity, remove personal information, merge duplicates, or decline a submission that doesn't meet these guidelines.

We keep an audit history of corrections so changes to a published record can be traced.

Corrections and venue requests

Anyone can report something that looks wrong, and venue owners can request corrections directly.

Corrections are reviewed like any other submission: we verify where we can, and flag rather than guess when we can't.

Advertising and editorial independence

Paid placements are always labelled as sponsored or promoted.

Advertising never affects ratings, the Local Tab Score, search relevance or which observations are published.

Privacy of contributors

Contributor email addresses and private details are never published.

We don't publish unredacted receipts or personal information included in a photo.
