1. Introduction
The Local Tab respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information when you visit our marketing website, request launch updates, submit information about a venue, inquire about advertising or contact us.
The Local Tab is currently developing a separate venue-discovery application. That application’s additional privacy practices will be addressed before its public launch.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you choose to provide through our website forms.
Launch Updates
Your email address, selected town or geographic preference, optional comments or interests, and your consent to receive communications.
Venue Information
Venue name, town, inquiry type, contact name, business role, email address, website or menu URL, additional information and confirmation that you are authorized to submit information where applicable.
Sponsorship Inquiries
Business name, business type, service area, contact name, email address, website, partnership interests and campaign objectives or comments.
General Contact
Your name, email address, inquiry topic and message.
Our website and service providers may also process technical information necessary for website delivery and security, such as IP addresses, browser details, request timestamps, security events and CAPTCHA verification information.
We ask that you avoid submitting sensitive personal information through general website forms.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to respond to inquiries, review submitted venue information, investigate factual correction requests, discuss potential business partnerships, maintain website security and manage requests concerning personal information.
Where you have separately requested launch updates, we may use your email address and stated preferences to send information about The Local Tab, including launch announcements and future relevant communications consistent with your consent.
Submitting a venue, sponsorship or general inquiry does not automatically enroll you in marketing communications.
4. Email Communications
The Local Tab intends to use Brevo to manage launch announcements and future newsletters once the service is configured. Not yet in use
Before marketing campaigns begin, we intend to provide a working subscription-management and unsubscribe process.
You may withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in those emails or by contacting us through the website’s privacy-request process.
Withdrawing consent does not prevent us from sending necessary replies to inquiries you initiated or retaining limited records when reasonably necessary for legal, security or compliance purposes.
Owner action: Complete this section with the confirmed email provider, the working unsubscribe mechanism, and the consent record retained — before any launch email is sent.
5. Where Information Is Stored and Processed
Our marketing website uses LandingSite.ai website and form services. Form submissions may be stored in the website’s Forms inbox and delivered to authorized notification recipients by email.
We also use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect forms from automated abuse.
When activated, Brevo will process information associated with newsletter registrations, consent and email delivery. Not yet in use
These providers may process information under their own applicable service terms and privacy practices.
We do not authorize our service providers to use personal information submitted to our forms for independent marketing on our behalf without an appropriate basis.
Owner action: Confirm the authorized notification recipient addresses for each form (including whether any is a personal inbox), and review each provider’s current terms for processing location and sub-processors.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for its original purpose, appropriate follow-up, security, recordkeeping and applicable legal obligations.
Our intended retention framework includes:
- General inquiries: normally up to 12 months after the inquiry is resolved.
- Venue submissions and corrections: normally up to 24 months after the most recent relevant activity, unless supporting records are needed longer for an active correction, dispute or published-information audit.
- Sponsorship inquiries: normally up to 24 months after the last meaningful business communication, unless an agreement or legal requirement warrants longer retention.
- Launch subscriptions: while the individual remains subscribed, with periodic review of inactive contacts.
- Consent and opt-out records: limited records may be retained after withdrawal as necessary to demonstrate consent history, respect unsubscribe requests and comply with applicable requirements.
- Security and technical records: retained according to operational necessity and the verified retention settings of relevant service providers.
Records may be deleted sooner when appropriate or retained longer where reasonably necessary for a legal obligation, dispute or security investigation.
These periods will be implemented and verified as part of our operating procedures before this policy becomes effective.
Owner action: Confirm each retention period is achievable with the tools in use (including the provider’s own retention settings), then put a deletion routine in place before this policy is published as final.
9. Your Privacy Choices
You may contact us to request information about the personal information we hold concerning you, request correction or deletion, or withdraw marketing consent.
We will review requests and respond in accordance with applicable law and our verified identity and security procedures.
Certain information may need to be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect against fraud, maintain security or resolve disputes.

10. Information Security

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Children’s Privacy
The Local Tab is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13 through the marketing website.
If we learn that such information has been collected, we will review and delete it as appropriate under applicable law.
